Spike TV — the network for men — curiously has no balls

In the latest in a long line of ridiculous media pandering overreactions reactions to ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner, Spike TV, the supposed network for men, today announced that it would be editing out a joke that actor and director (and all around badass) Clint Eastwood made during a taping of the network’s 2015 Guys’ Choice Awards.

Per Fox News:

The “American Sniper” director reportedly made the joke when introducing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at the 2015 Guys’ Choice Awards Saturday night. He compared Johnson to former athletes who turn to acting like “Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…”

Not much of joke, though, is it? But the mere mention of Bruce ‘Caitlyn’ Jenner presumably sent the ‘guys’ at Spike TV into a fit of the vapors.

“We will remove the reference in the version that will air,” Spike TV senior vice president of communications David Schwarz told USA Today in an e-mail.

Bring forth the fainting couch!

And in a hilarious touch of irony, Spike TV itself is billing this awards show, which airs June 18th, as “unfiltered, unpredictable.” Self-awareness, thy name is NOT Spike TV.

You want unfiltered and unpredictable, punk?

The little boys at Spike TV would do well to take a page out of Clint Eastwood’s book — be brave! Be manly! Reclaim your cojones! Air this mild little joke like big boys!

Let’s not forget that ESPN, another network with programming that appeals primarily to men, recently vied for the Media Pander of the Year Award for announcing it will give Jenner a “courage” award. It’s a sad state of affairs when two large media outlets let one confused man transgendered woman rule its editorial decisions.

Not very manly of them.

What do you think? Is Spike TV doing the right thing by editing out Clint Eastwood’s joke? Or should they let it air as is? Let us know in the comments below!
