His refrigerator was empty, so he called 911 for help. Their response will make you smile.

Clarence Blackmon is an 81-year-old cancer patient from Fayetteville, NC. After a lengthy hospital stay, he returned home to bare cabinets and an empty refrigerator. Feeling desperate, he called 911 and asked for help. Dispatcher Marilyn Hinson was more than happy to answer the call.

A short time after placing the call, Clarence was visited by Hinson and two police officers … and they weren’t empty-handed.

‘He was hungry,’ Hinson told WTVD.

‘I’ve been hungry. A lot of people can’t say that, but I can, and I can’t stand for anyone to be hungry.

She brought him a head of cabbage, soft drinks, beets, and even made him a few ham sandwiches.

And it didn’t stop there. Local residents followed Hinson’s lead, and Clarence found himself on the receiving end of his community’s generosity. He told ABC News:

‘They keep bringing it in by the armloads. My cupboards are full. I’ve never had such prosperity.’

Hinson making a delivery.

‘It was like a little miracle ringing in my ear,’ Blackmon said. ‘I thought, ‘Jesus, you answered those prayers!’
