Dr. Ben Carson wants to leave no doubt where he stands on the matter of faith

As the nation mourns the loss of the victims killed in the shooting that took place in Roseburg, Oregon yesterday, reports have become quite clear that the shooter — who will remain unidentified here, out of respect for Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin, who announced in a news conference earlier today: “You will never hear me mention his name. We would encourage media & the community to avoid using it.” — specifically targeted Christians.

Though he’s made absolutely no secret about his faith, Presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson wants there to be no doubt where he stands, and took to social media today with this bold announcement:

Not only that, he changed his profile photo on both Twitter and Facebook to reflect a new hashtag, asking followers to do the same in honor of the victims:

As of this evening, the combined social media shares for his photo holding the sign exceed 100,000, and the profile photo is nearing 52,000 on Facebook alone.

One thing is for sure: Ben Carson is not ashamed of his faith. In light of what the victims were reportedly asked to do yesterday before losing their lives, the question is no doubt raised in each of our minds — what if we were called to do the same? What would our answer be?
