As Americans Move Away From Christianity, FOX moves ahead with ‘Lucifer’

As the number of adults who identify as Christian has dropped from 78.4% to 70.6%, and the number of unaffiliated adults has increased from 16.1% to 22.8%, FOX plans to move ahead with a new series named “Lucifer.”

“Lucifer,” produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Len Wiseman, stars Tom Ellis as Lucifer Morningstar. Lucifer leaves Hell to live in Los Angeles, where he owns  a swanky nightclub.

Lucifer witnesses a murder and soon collaborates with LAPD to catch the bad guys. My guess is the attraction between Lucifer and Chloe, an LAPD officer not seduced by his good looks and charm, will provide some romantic surprises.

Maybe it’s too early to judge. “Lucifer” may be entertaining with some positive lessons learned along the way, but America may have an appetite for the occult. In recent news,  the ” “#CharlieCharlieChallenge,” a game designed to summon a demon, is trending on social media.

The effects of portraying Lucifer as charming, good-looking, and witty to an American population already disenchanted with religion and  surrounded by evil remains to be seen.
